1. Uncompromising Security Architecture
Encrypted Isolation
Trezor ensures your private keys never leave the device. All cryptographic operations are performed offline, physically isolated from vulnerable internet-connected computers. This complete separation is the fundamental principle of hardware wallet security, rendering malware, phishing, and remote attacks entirely ineffective against your assets. We maintain a zero-trust model regarding device connection.
- Open-Source Codebase for full auditability.
- Secure Bootloader verified before every firmware load.
Recovery and Key Management
Your access is secured by a unique 12, 18, or 24-word **Recovery Seed** (BIP39 standard). This seed is the *only* backup of your keys. We strongly emphasize the need to physically secure this seed, ideally using an offline, non-digital storage medium. Never digitize or photograph your seed phrase.
The device also employs an additional **Passphrase** (the hidden wallet feature), which adds an extra layer of protection, making your device unusable even if physically compromised. This is a crucial defense against supply chain or physical attacks.
Security Insight
The passphrase feature is known as Plausible Deniability, allowing you to create multiple, non-obvious wallets on a single device.
2. Your Trezor Workflow: 3 Simple Steps
Initial Setup & Pin
Connect your Trezor and install the latest firmware via **Trezor Suite**. Set a strong PIN on the device screen—never on your computer. The PIN prevents unauthorized physical access.
Backup Your Recovery Seed
Carefully transcribe your 12/24-word recovery seed. Validate the transcription, then store it securely offline. This is your master key for restoration.
Transact and Manage
Use Trezor Suite to manage your portfolio, swap assets, and send transactions. All outgoing transactions require physical confirmation on your device screen.
